Hello Newsletter family and friends. It has been a very busy past 6 months for myself and The "Unspoken Truths".
For those that weren’t aware, on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 we had a play reading at Langston Performing Arts Institute. The reading was a culmination and birthing of a vision Vida Oliphant Sneed created. The House was packed and the stage was set for an experience that was to set in motion something none of those who participated could have imagined.
Jennifer Zeyl, Artistic Director of the Intiman Theatre was in attendance. Because of the energy, creativity, and artistic expression exhibited during the reading, a collaboration was created to create the production of a play "The Lion Tells His Tale".
From May 1st to May 5th, 2024 The Broadway Performance Hall on the Campus of the Seattle Central College showcased The World premiere of the play.
Practically all of the shows were viewed by sold-out audiences.
The hope is that sometime in the near future The "Lion" production will once again ROAR somewhere in the greater Seattle area.
Below are a few community members' reflective testimonials and media links for you to review.
"The production was a life-inspiring experience. I laughed, cried, and felt a new sense of pride from learning about American history through a Black cultural lens. I learned so much!!!"
"Thank you Mr. Richardson and team for creating such an amazing space."
"Magnificently done. This play is worthy of being shown on Broadway in New York City!"
"Kudos to the entire Intiman staff, and all those that participated in the production. I wish More Black children and young adults were in attendance to witness their brilliance!!"
“The play production should be re-created into either a movie or a documentary!”
