BLACK HISTORY MONTH HIGHLIGHTS

February was an exciting month for the "Unspoken" Truths. We conducted three individual events at TAF ( Technology Access Foundation) Saghalie, a 6th-12th grade STEM-focused project-based learning public school in the Federal Way school district.

Project-based learning is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is believed that students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.

We finished out the month at Olympic College in Bremerton WA, which facilitated a student-centered Kitsap County BSU

(Black Student Union) experience.

That evening we had a community-centered event with great cuisine provided by the culinary students at the college. This marks the second consecutive year conducting a February event on the Peninsula.

A special shout to Mrs. Jewel Shepard-Sampson who is doing amazing work with the Kitsap scholars!
